The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre

The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre  (RISSC) is an independent research entity affiliated with the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought. The Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought is an international Islamic non-governmental, independent institute headquartered in Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.


Charter:

  1. The primary goal of The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre  (“the Centre”) is to protect, preserve and propagate traditional, orthodox, ‘moderate’ Islam as defined by the international Islamic Consensus on the ‘Three Points of the Amman Message’ arrived at over the years 2005-2006.
  2. The Centre will aim to spread knowledge of the ‘Amman Message’ of November 2004 and the principles it contains in so far as these best represent traditional, orthodox, ‘moderate’ Islam.
  3. The Centre will aim to establish, propagate and publicize the religious and legal positions of traditional, orthodox, ‘moderate’ Islam on key issues relevant to life in the modern world.
  4. The Centre will study trends and trend makers in the Islamic world and provide suggestions for authentically Islamic solutions to problems and conflicts arising within the Islamic world itself, and will address issues between Muslims and non-Muslims everywhere.
  5. The Centre will also seek to study trends and events among all the world’s religions, religious organizations and religious movements, particularly in their attitudes towards Islam and Muslims.
  6. The Centre will seek to monitor and possibly co-ordinate with other similar think tanks internationally, as well monitor and possibly co-ordinate with both Islamic and interfaith centres and academic institutions internationally.
  7. The Centre will seek to acquire its own information resources and personnel, as well its own library, video library, publishing house, websites, information databases and records, address lists, media resources and contacts. It will seek to use all legal and ethical means available to put across its message (as identified in points 1-4), especially through multimedia and publishing.
  8. The Centre will have as its top priority any request or directive made by His Majesty, the King, for a study or a religious initiative or project, at any time.
  9. The Centre will have a Board of International Advisors who will meet periodically at the request of their chairperson (who will be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute of Islamic Thought—of which R.I.S.S.C. is a semiautonomous part) in order to further define priorities and projects as mandated by this charter.
