Photos, video: Cardinal Dolan makes first visit to NYC mosque, meets with Staten Island Muslim leaders
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York, made his first visit to a mosque in New York City and it was the Albanian Islamic Cultural Center in Tompkinsville where he met with Muslim and other faith leaders.
The cardinal spent more than two hours touring the mosque and the Miraj Islamic School and having lunch with about 40 clergy and laity.
Russia and Kazakhstan’s contribution to inter-religious dialogue
The deputy chairman of the Kazakh Agency on Religious Affairs Marat Azilkhanov notes that there has been no such a universal forum before it. “In a decade the forum became an important dialogue platform. Heads of the world religions come to our capital once in three years. Astana welcomed delegations from all over the world four times. The obvious success of Kazakhstan and its leader’s initiative is representation and the high level of participants of the inter-religious forum. We are glad that the idea of Kazakhstan on holding the Astana Forum of Religious Leasers is supported by the Russian Federation.”
Mosque Approval Delights UK Muslims
Fulfilling a ten-year-old dream, a Muslim application to build a mosque in Britain’s West Midlands region of Shropshire has been approved by the city council, to the jubilance of the sizable minority.
“We have waited nearly 10 years for a suitable building,” George Miah, chairman of the Shropshire Bangladeshi Welfare Society, told Shropshire Star on Friday, June 21.
