Interfaith consolidation initiative praised
Parliament speakers of G20 states stressed Sunday the importance of the initiative by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, which aims to consolidate the concept of interfaith dialogue as a basis for peaceful coexistence at the international level.
The speakers called on the international community to create a suitable environment for dialogue, tolerance and development of a culture of human rights, away from fanaticism, extremism and racism.

OIC/UN: Ihsanoglu Calls for “Preventive Cultural Diplomacy” to Keep Interfaith Harmony
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu asserted that the OIC has demonstrated ability to build consensus on the most sensitive of international issues. In his speech at the High Level Segment of the 19th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, today Tuesday 28 February, 2012 he highlighted the OIC’s initiative of sponsoring resolution 16/18.
Ihsanoglu stated that this Session marks the first anniversary of the consensual passage of 16/18 resolution entitled, “Combating intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatization of, and discrimination, incitement to violence and violence against persons based on religion and belief”.

Azerbaijani and Russian religious organizations discuss prospects for dialogue
The head of Caucasus Muslims Office Haji Allahshukur Pashazade visited Moscow at the invitation of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
During the visit, Pashazade also met with Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Hilarion and chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for Church and Society Relations Vsevolod Chaplin.
The satisfaction with the cooperation between the two religious centers was expressed at the meeting. The prospects of the inter-religious dialogue were discussed.
