CAIR: National 'MyJihad' Campaign Launched with Chicago Bus Ads
On Friday, December 14, the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) will announce the launch of the "MyJihad" educational campaign at a press conference in the morning and at a community party in the afternoon.
MyJihad is an independent national initiative that seeks to share the proper meaning of Jihad as believed and practiced by the majority of Muslims. Jihad is a central tenet of the Islamic creed, which means struggling uphill in order to get to a better place.
'Islamophobia in US rising'
The rising trend of Islamophobia has been going on for decades in the United States due to constant misinformation by the American press and government, says Abdul Alim Musa, Imam of Masjid Al-Islam in Washington, D.C.
Musa says Islamophobia is a “war on Islam” that is used as a pretext to justify invading Muslim communities, carrying out illegal searches, restricting the movement and destroying the rights of Muslims in America.

At Interfaith Luncheon, an Appeal for a Miracle
Hanukkah is the Jewish holiday of miracles, commemorating how one day’s worth of oil left in a Jerusalem candelabra more than 2,000 years ago somehow lasted for eight days. Imam Souleimane Konate, the head of Masjid Aqsa, a mosque in Harlem, is hoping that bodes well for his cause.
The imam was one of eight Islamic leaders from the New York area to gather in a kosher restaurant in Midtown on Monday for a Hanukkah celebration lunch with Rabbi Yona Metzger, the Ashkenazi chief rabbi of Israel.
Rabbi Metzger, a tall man in a black fedora and long white beard, had just landed from Israel, so he swept in a bit late to the restaurant, Solo on Madison Avenue, with his wife and 13-year-old son.
